MANILA, Philippines — Over 200 persons with disabilities (PWDs) joined the paralympic games held by the Taguig City government on Saturday.

The paralympics was held at TCU Auditorium in Barangay Central Bicutan to express support for the PWD sector, Mayor Lani Cayetano said.

At least 287 PWD athletes joined the competition hosted by the city’s persons with disabilities affairs office and sports development office as well as by Future Vision Inc.

They competed in sitting volleyball, goal ball, chess and chess for the blind, badminton, darts and basketball shootout.

The winners received cash prizes ranging from P3,000 to P6,000 and trophies while the other athletes received consolation prizes.

“It is important to see sports as an opportunity to get to know more PWD athletes,” Cayetano said in a statement in Filipino.
