Boy, 4, dies in Quezon City bus crash

MANILA, Philippines — A four-year-old boy died while a girl remains in a hospital after a passenger bus hit them in front of the North Fairview elementary school in Quezon City on Thursday evening.

Both the boy and the girl, according to probers, were standing in front of the school along Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay Fairview when the accident occurred at around 7:40 p.m.

They said sport utility vehicle driver Gerald Cabanban lost control of the wheel when the passenger bus hit the SUV. Both the bus and the SUV reportedly hit the boy.

Rescuers brought the girl to a hospital for medical treatment. The boy died immediately.

Bus driver Paul Penamente was taken into police custody for investigation.
