MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos has appointed a new chairman and administrator of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).
The President signed the appointment paper of former mayor Jonathan Tan of Pandan, Antique on April 28.
Tan was mayor of Pandan from 2010 to 2019. He served as president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines in Antique and was among the country’s most outstanding mayors in 2012.
Tan replaced Rolen Paulino, who tendered his resignation effective April 15.
Former president Rodrigo Duterte appointed Paulino on March 1 last year.
Although the SBMA head has a fixed term of six years as provided under the Bases Conversion and Development Act, Paulino said he resigned to give the President “a free hand to choose who he deems best to steer the SBMA to greater heights.”
