SSS flags delinquent Bulacan, Pampanga, Olongapo employers

MALOLOS, Philippines — The Social Security System (SSS) has written notices to 38 employers in Bulacan, Pampanga and Olongapo City for non-remittance of the contributions of their employees amounting to P26.8 million.

Gloria Corazon Andrada, SSS vice president for Central Luzon, said the notices were part of the agency’s Run After Contribution Evaders or RACE campaign.

Andrada said regular remittances of contributions are necessary to ensure workers can avail themselves of SSS benefits such as sickness, maternity, disability, unemployment, retirement, death and funeral.

She said employees should also be able to receive benefits for work-related contingencies aside from salary and calamity loans.

Erring employers were given a non-extendible period of 15 days to coordinate with their respective SSS branches to comply and avoid legal sanctions.

Andrada said employers can also avail themselves of the contribution penalty condonation program by paying in full or through installment of up to 48 months depending on the amount of delinquency.

“The RACE campaign reflects SSS’ commitment to enforce full compliance of employers to their legal obligations. Rest assured that SSS will constantly monitor them through our account officers to ensure the full settlement of their delinquency,” Andrada said.
