Magnitude 5.2 quake jolts Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.2 earthquake jolted parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, at around noon yesterday.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the epicenter of the quake was located 19 kilometers (kms) east of Looc, Occidental Mindoro.
Phivolcs said the quake was felt at Intensity 5, which is classified as strong, in Sablayan and Rizal in Occidental Mindoro and Intensity 4 or moderately strong in San Jose and Paluan, also in Occidental Mindoro, as well as in Puerto Galera, Calapan City and San Teodoro in Oriental Mindoro.
The quake was felt at Intensity 3 in Manila, Las Piñas, Lipa City, Batangas City, Abra de Ilog and Lubang in Occidental Mindoro and Alfonso in Cavite.
The shaking was felt at Intensity 2 in Quezon City, Pasig, Marikina, Makati, Valenzuela, Bacoor, Cavite and Looc, Occidental Mindoro.
Instrumental intensity 4 was recorded in Puerto Galera and Calapan, Oriental Mindoro and Instrumental Intensity 3 in Lemery and Calatagan in Batangas, San Ildefonso in Bulacan, Tagaytay and Magallanes in Cavite and Las Piñas.
Phivolcs said no damage was expected from the quake, but warned the public of aftershocks.
