28 Muntinlupa schools turn to blended learning due to heat

MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-eight public schools in Muntinlupa will shift to blended learning for one month to protect students from the extreme heat in Metro Manila.

The city government said on Friday the blended learning modality will run from May 2 to June 2.

During the period, schools can hold classes online and the traditional in-person teaching.

“Blended learning composites face to face and asynchronous modalities,” schools division superintendent Evangeline Ladines said in a statement.

Mayor Ruffy Biazon earlier said their priority in pushing for blending learning is for the protection of students and school personnel from scorching temperatures.

The city government said the state weather agency recorded a heat index of 40 degrees Celsius in the past week.
