P4.15 billion seized illegal drugs destroyed
MANILA, Philippines — Illegal drugs and essential chemicals worth P4.15 billion that were seized in various operations were destroyed in Trece Martires City in Cavite yesterday.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) director general Virgilio Moro Lazo led the ceremonial destruction of 700 kilos of illegal drugs through thermal decomposition at the Integrated Waste Management Inc. in Barangay Aguado.
Among those destroyed were 601,447.0994 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P4.08 billion; 12,974.6666 grams of party drug Ecstasy, P51.53 million, and 110,694.1323 grams of marijuana, P13.2 million.
PDEA oversees the disposal of illegal drugs seized in law enforcement operations, in compliance with the guidelines under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation 1.
Meanwhile, 57 kilos of marijuana worth P6.8 million were confiscated from Arnold Atonen and Daryl Collera along Kennon Road in Barangay Camp 7 in Baguio City on Wednesday.
Glenn Guillermo, PDEA-Central Luzon information officer, said follow-up operations were conducted after marijuana worth P1.7 million, reportedly for distribution in Bulacan, was seized in Barangay Balili in La Trinidad, Benguet on April 12.
As this developed, Chinese citizen Hui Ming, who was arrested after a raid on a warehouse in Baguio City on March 29 yielded illegal drugs, will be arraigned today.
