No more typhoons seen this month

MANILA, Philippines — No more typhoons are expected to enter the country this month as the tropical depression earlier spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has dissipated, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said Filipinos should brace for high temperatures in the coming days.

“No low-pressure area that can develop into a typhoon has been monitored. The possibility of another typhoon entering the country this month is low,” Badrina said.

PAGASA said the tropical depression outside PAR dissipated yesterday morning.

The easterlies is currently affecting the eastern sections of the Visayas and Mindanao .

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

The state weather agency earlier said that it expected at least one tropical cyclone to occur this month, one to two each in May and June, and two to three each in July, August and September.

Meanwhile, the water level in the Angat Dam continued to drop after it reached 195.99 meters yesterday morning or 0.33 centimeters lower than its previous elevation of 196.32 meters.

Angat is the main source of potable water of Metro Manila households.
