Ghio Ong - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Two people, including an alleged drug pusher, were killed in separate shooting incidents in Tondo, Manila over the weekend.

The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the victims as Raymart Sandoval Ferrer, 25, and Florence Serrano Anglo, 33.

Ferrer was talking to someone on his cell phone at Parola Compound’s Gate 13 in Barangay 20 at around 2:30 a.m. yesterday when residents heard two gunshots, according to a report from the MPD’s Delpan station. He was later found dead.

Police said no one was able to identify Ferrer’s assailant since the area was dark due to a power outage beginning 10 p.m. on Saturday until around 3 a.m. yesterday.

Ferrer, allegedly a member of the Commando gang, was arrested for possession and sale of illegal drugs in May and October 2021. He was released after posting bail on his first arrest. He availed himself of a plea bargain on his second.

Anglo was gunned down by a man wearing a green long-sleeved shirt, gray jogging pants and black slippers.

She was talking to her assailant at the corner of Osorio and Velasquez streets in Barangay 97 at around 6:40 a.m. on Saturday when he pulled out a gun and fired at her face once, the MPD’s Raxabago station reported.

Her husband rushed her to the Tondo Medical Center, where she was declared dead at 7:05 a.m., the MPD said.

Police are investigating the motives for the two killings.
