PNP to get new national headquarters building

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The country’s police force is set to get a new national headquarters building worth P1 billion.

Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel III on Monday led the groundbreaking ceremony for the eight-story headquarters building of the Philippine National Police (PNP) at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

The building, which will be constructed at the existing grandstand of the PNP’s main camp, will feature sustainable design and innovations for energy and efficiency and environmental friendliness.

The building will have a roof deck and two-level basement. It is envisioned as a modern, safe and efficient workspace that will house the offices of the PNP command group and the directorates.

The PNP, in a statement yesterday, said the building was funded with the help of Pimentel and supported by Senate committee chairperson Sonny Angara and Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri.

The PNP also unveiled yesterday the newly constructed police commissioned officers dormitory at Camp Crame.

With a total cost of P100 million from the Department of Public Works and Highways’ budget for fiscal year 2021, the project started on Sept. 3, 2021 and was completed on March 13.

The condominium building is designed to accommodate qualified police commissioned officers assigned to Camp Crame.
