Maguindanao electric coop exec, councilor slain

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — An official of an electric cooperative and a town councilor were killed in gun attacks in Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur in the past two days.

Al-Hassan Maongco, institutional services department manager of the Maguindanao Electric Cooperative, was driving his Toyota Fortuner when he was shot in Barangay Capiton in Datu Odin Sinsuat yesterday, Maj. Regie Albellera, Datu Odin Sinsuat police chief, said.

Maongco suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene.

The victim’s vehicle reportedly rammed a tree when he lost control of the wheel.

On Tuesday, Salibo Councilor Desmon Silongan had just parked his car in front of the municipal hall when he was shot.
