2 Benguet gold rob suspects arrested after 9 years

Baguio City, Philippines — Two suspects in the robbery of P14 million worth of gold bars in Mankayan, Benguet in 2003 have been arested in Compostela Valley, Davao de Oro, police reported yesterday.

After eluding arrest for nine years, Danny Nabulay, 43, and Rimando Domyong, 46, were finally caught in Barangay Pantukan on Friday, according to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. David Peredo.

The suspects were reportedly among masked men who barged into the compound of Lepanto Consolidated Mining Co. in Mankayan, Benguet on Sept. 20, 2003.

The robbers, armed with rifles, reportedly killed four guards and an engineer before fleeing with gold bars with an estimated value of P14 million.
