33 hurt in Quezon vehicular mishap

MANILA, Philippines — Thirty-three people were injured after their vehicle figured in an accident in Lucena, Quezon on Saturday morning.

The victims – who were employees of a construction company based in Antipolo Ciy, Rizal – were on their way to an excursion when their van rolled over along the highway in Barangay Magsaysay at around 9 a.m., according to the Infanta police.

Relatives of the employees were among those injured in the accident.

Reports said the driver, identified as Danilo de Guzman, suddenly stepped on the brakes, causing the vehicle to roll over.

Among those who were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries were Miriam Berezo, 52; Marilyn Cruz, 32; Rodney Vergara, 28, and a minor.

The rest including the driver and 12 children suffered minor injuries.
