MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese man who allegedly raped a transgender woman was arrested in Parañaque City on Friday.

Zhou Bing Jie, also known as Feng Cheng, 35, was arrested at a hotel in Barangay Tambo at around 11:45 p.m., the Southern Police District (SPD) said in a report.

Zhou is accused of raping a certain Julia, a 24-year-old transgender, in a room at the hotel the victim was renting.

Police investigators said Zhou and the victim first met at a casino. After exchanging pleasantries, the two went to the hotel where Julia was staying.

Once they were in Julia’s room, Zhou allegedly raped the victim and threw her cell phone.

A security guard who saw the commotion alerted police officers, who arrested Zhou and rescued the victim.

Charges of rape and malicious mischief are being prepared against the suspect.
