MANILA, Philippines — The country’s first-ever chess museum in honor of Filipino grandmaster Eugene Torre was opened to the public in Marikina City on Wednesday.

Marikina District 1 Rep. Marjorie Ann Teodoro led the unveiling of the Eugene Torre Chess Museum located at the Pan de Amerikana Restaurant in Barangay Concepcion Dos.

Torre was also present during the unveiling of the museum, which showcases his exploits since he became a grandmaster in 1974 and his inclusion in the World Chess Hall of Fame in 2021.

Included in the museum are Torre’s accolades, medals, trophies and selected photographs of his matches in his 50-year career.

The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
