Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A suspected member of the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf wanted for a string of crimes was arrested in Parañaque City on Thursday after 13 years in hiding.

Salahuddin Alpin, 38, was working as a construction worker at the Marina Bay South Shore Project in Barangay Don Galo when he was apprehended at around 8 p.m., Southern Police District (SPD) director Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft said.

Kraft said Alpin has a warrant of arrest issued by a Zamboanga City court in July 2009 for two counts of murder and frustrated murder. Records show Alpin is also accused of kidnapping and extortion.

Alpin was caught with a .45-caliber handgun and a hand grenade in his backpack when he was arrested.
