MANILA, Philippines — An elderly woman died after she jumped onto the tracks of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and was hit by a train in Quezon City yesterday.
A 74-year-old woman allegedly jumped from the southbound platform of the Quezon Avenue station in Barangay South Triangle at around 11:58 a.m., police said.
Closed-circuit television camera footage showed Aguinaldo jumping onto the tracks as a train approached the station.
First aid responders extricated the victim from the tracks and rushed her to the East Avenue Medical Center for medical treatment.
Despite efforts by physicians, Aguinaldo died at around 2:20 p.m.
The MRT-3 management implemented a provisionary service between Shaw Boulevard and Taft Avenue stations while Aguinaldo was being rescued. – Ghio Ong
