2 men gunned down in Manila
MANILA, Philippines — Two men were shot dead in separate incidents in Manila on Sunday.
In a report, the Manila Police District identified the fatalities as construction worker Ruel Yabao, 20, and Ruel Villaruel.
Probers said Yabao died at the scene after an unidentified assailant fired at him at the corner of Paulino and Nepa streets in Barangay 142 in Tondo.
Witnesses told police that they heard two gunshots before Yabao was found sprawled on the ground.
Villaruel was gunned down at the Baseco Compound in Barangay 649, Port Area.
Police said they are still investigating the shootings.
In Caloocan, a motorcycle rider was killed following a drinking session in Barangay Bagong Silang on Saturday.
Edgardo Mondalia, 47, was asleep due to drunkenness when the suspect, John Bryce Padrigado, 21, allegedly fired at the victim using an improvised shotgun.
Caloocan police substation 12 commander Maj. Darwin Decano said the suspect fled to Bulacan after the incident.
Police said Mondalia and Padrigado had a dispute prior to the killing. – Ghio Ong
