5 hurt in Cavite road mishap

Camp Vicente Lim, Laguna, Philippines — Five persons were injured when a jeepney loaded with excursionists figured in an accident in Ternate, Cavite yesterday.

Rahleen Casil, Ronal Casil, Riza Chacon, Carl Diaz and jeepney driver Efren Suarez, all of Las Piñas City, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries.

The jeepney was headed to Maragondon when its engine malfunctioned along the Ternate-Nasugbu Road in Barangay Sapang 1, according to Maj. Xelacor Marie Garcia, officer-in-charge of the Ternate police.

“The jeepney was traveling along a downhill road when it developed engine trouble. Although the driver lost control of the the wheel, he was able to prevent the vehicle from falling off a cliff,” Garcia said.

The vehicle rolled to its side, causing injuries to the five passengers.
