MANILA, Philippines — A man was arrested for allegedly brandishing a firearm in front of the Philippine Women’s University Quezon City campus in Barangay West Triangle on Friday.
Jomer Villanueva, 29, was collared by police while standing in front of the school campus at around 2:20 p.m., Quezon City Police District director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said.
Torre said officers from the Masambong police station went to the area in response to a call from a concerned citizen about a man wielding a handgun near the university.
Policemen approached Villanueva and confiscated his firearm, a .38 caliber handgun loaded with two bullets, before he could resist.
Villanueva was handcuffed after he failed to present any document for his firearm.
The suspect is being held on charges of violating Republic At 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
