Parañaque fire leaves 50 families homeless

MANILA, Philippines — At least 50 families were left homeless when a fire struck a residential area in Parañaque City before dawn yesterday.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the blaze broke out along Quirino Avenue in Barangay Don Galo at past 1 a.m.

The fire reached the third alarm at around 1:39 a.m.

Firefighters contained the fire at around 3:29 a.m.

The BFP said nine persons were injured in the fire.

About 37 houses were destroyed in the fire. Damage to property was estimated at P550,000.

Arson probers said they have yet to determine what caused the fire.
