Man, daughter dead in wall collapse

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — A man and his daughter died when the concrete wall of their house in Barangay San Jose in Talisayan, Misamis Oriental collapsed on them before dawn yesterday.

Kent Ian Pelaez, 43, and his daughter Kia, 2, were pronounced dead on arrival at the Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospital, Chief M/ Sgt. Edison Ucat, municipal police chief, said.

The neighbors of the victims, who responded to the incident, said the wall fell on the two while they were sleeping.

Rescue teams from the municipal government, Bureau of Fire Protection and other concerned individuals helped extract the bodies of the victims.
