‘Dog meat trader’ arrested
CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — Six dogs, three of them puppies, were rescued from a suspected dog meat trader arrested in Paniqui, Tarlac on Monday.
Reports reaching Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., Central Luzon police director, identified the suspect as Teresita Barrogo, a resident of Barangay Coral.
Barrogo was apprehended in an entrapment conducted by representatives of animal welfare group Animal Kingdom Foundation as well as joint teams of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and Tarlac police.
Ten kilos of dog meat, a weighing scale, a knife, two butane torches and marked money were also reportedly recovered from the suspect.
