Wanted ‘amazon’ nabbed
COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A female member of the New People’s Army (NPA), who has been wanted for attempted murder, was arrested in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat on Saturday.
The woman, who was pregnant, did not resist when police and military officers served a warrant for her arrest in Barangay Napnapon, according to Brig. Gen. Michael Santos, chief of the Army’s 603rd Infantry Brigade.
The woman, who asked to be identified only as “Dayang,” told authorities that she had been planning to surrender after learning that her comrades, who surrendered earlier, received good treatment and had reintegrated into their barangays.
Santos said the police and the military looked for Dayang after learning that she wanted to surrender, but could not proceed to the headquarters or any command post of the Army due to her condition.
