Worker killed in Zamboanga del Sur attack
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A junk shop worker was killed while three others were wounded in an attack in Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur on Saturday
Paulo Paragoya, 25, died from a gunshot wound in the chest and his throat was slit, according to Brig. Gen. Neil Alinsañgan, Zamboanga peninsula police director.
Paragoya’s companions Edmar Adecer, 24; Jaime Garongo, 32, and Roel Sinugbayhan, 37, were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Reports said the victims were on their way home in a tricycle when a lone gunman waylaid them in Purok Bombil, Barangay Igat Island.
The gunman reportedly shot all the victims, causing Paragoya to fall off their vehicle.
Although wounded, the three other victims managed to speed away, leaving Paragoya behind.
Witnesses told police that the suspect fled on foot toward the coastal area of the village.
Probers have yet to determine the motive for the attack.
