MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confiscated at least 1,100 sacks of fake branded wheat flour in Manila and Quezon City on Monday.
In a statement yesterday, the Philippine Foremost Milling Corp. (PFMC) said agents of the NBI raided warehouses in Sampaloc, Manila and Novaliches, Quezon City.
The PFMC said the wheat flour was “re-sacked and mixed with different flours.”
The raids were conducted based on a search warrant issued by the Manila Regional Trial Court.
The flour milling company said it sought the NBI help after receiving complaints from bakery customers of quality issues on one of its popular products, the Washington Gold Hard wheat flour.
The caretaker of the Novaliches warehouse said the sacks of flour were bought from Divisoria.
PFMC lawyer Toby Tañada said they would file charges of violation of Republic Act 8293 or the Trademark Infringement Act against the owners of the warehouses: Goldepost General Merchandising and Godsway Marketing.
