MANILA, Philippines — A 42-year-old man who was on his way to the public service program of Sen. Raffy Tulfo to file a complaint against his wife was shot dead in Quezon City yesterday.
Joseph de la Cruz died at the scene from two gunshots to the head.
Police said the shooting occurred in Barangay Gulod at around 3:50 a.m.
Probers said De la Cruz, his daughter and other relatives were on their way to Tulfo’s radio program in Mandaluyong City to complain about his wife who was allegedly having an affair with another man.
According to Dela Cruz’s companions, a man on a motorcycle and clad in a red shirt fired at the victim twice in the head at the corner of Nitang Avenue and Quirino Highway.
The assailant escaped toward an unknown direction after the shooting.
Investigators said they recovered two bullet casings and a fired bullet from a handgun of unknown caliber at the scene.
Police are investigating if the killing of De la Cruz was related to his marital issue with his wife.
