MANILA, Philippines — Two suspected gunrunners were arrested in Maypajo, Caloocan City on Friday.
Jomar Balatbat, 27, and Ariel Reyes Jr., 40, were apprehended by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Barangay 35 at around 6:30 p.m.
CIDG director Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr. said their operatives initiated a sting to catch the suspects after receiving reports the duo, alleged members of the Sige-Sige Commando group, are involved in the proliferation of loose firearms.
Seized from the suspects were two .38-caliber handguns and five bullets. The suspects face charges for violating Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammuni-tion.
