CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A special investigation task group was created yesterday to look into the killing of a barangay chairman in Lipa City in Batangas on Sunday.
Lipa Mayor Eric Africa offered a reward of P200,000 for information that will lead to the arrest of the assailant, Lipa City police chief Lt. Col. Ariel Azurin said.
The task group is composed of personnel of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and Highway Patrol Group in Calabarzon as well as provincial intelligence unit and investigation division, Scene of the Crime Operatives and local police.
Vivencio Palo, chairman of Barangay San Carlos, was unloading merchandise in front of his store when a passenger of a car that pulled over shot him several times.
The victim was reportedly planning to seek reelection.
