Late governor ex-aide shot dead

Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A former executive assistant of the late Basilan governor and congressman Wahab Akbar was shot dead in this city on Saturday night.

Paruk Taguri Majirun, 50, had just come from a wedding ceremony when he was killed in Barangay Canelar, according to Zamboanga City police chief Col. Alexander Lorenzo.

The victim was declared dead on arrival in a nearby hospital.

Investigation showed Majirun was driving a pickup truck with six persons on board when a motorcycle-riding assailant shot him several times.

The truck crashed into a motorcycle parked along the road.

No one among the passengers was hurt in the attack.

He was the second executive assistant of Akbar to be killed after Jordan Juhaini, who was shot dead in 2018 in Isabela City.

Probers have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
