MANILA, Philippines — Nine civilian informants received P7.96 million in cash reward from the Philippine National Police (PNP) for their roles in the arrest of nine wanted fugitives.
PNP Directorate for Intelligence director Maj. Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. handed over the cash incentives to the informants at Camp Crame in Quezon City on Friday.
The informants wore protective masks to conceal their identities when they accepted the cash reward.
Acorda said one of the informants provided information that led to the arrest of former National Democratic Front peace consultant Alfredo Mapano.
Mapano was captured in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental in November 2020.
The other informants were recognized for their efforts that led to the arrest of eight fugitives who were wanted for murder, rape, car theft, attempted murder, frustrated murder and qualified theft.
