COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Up to 25,489 marijuana plants with an estimated market value of P5 million were torched following a raid on a plantation in Maguing, Lanao del Sur on Fri-day.

The raid was launched after residents informed authorities about the propagation of marijuana plants in Barangay Bato-Bato by armed men linked to local terrorist group Dawlah Islami-ya, according to Brig. Gen. John Guyguyon, Bangsamoro police director.

Authorities said the farm was guarded by several armed men who fled after sensing the arrival of the raiding team.
