Man arrested for ‘sextortion’

MANILA, Philippines — A 47-year-old man who allegedly threatened his ex-girlfriend that he would expose her nude photographs and sex videos was arrested in Caloocan City on Friday.

Freddie de Gracia was collared by operatives of the Anti-Cybercrime Group in a motel at the corner of Samson Road and General Pio Valenzuela street in Barangay 78 at around 4:33 p.m., the ACG said in a report.

ACG spokesperson Capt. Michelle Sabino said the suspect was arrested in response to the complaint of his ex-girlfriend, a 27-year-old woman.

The victim sought assistance of the ACG after De Gracia warned her that he will spread and expose her naked pictures and sex videos in public unless she will meet with him again.

De Gracia was apprehended when he met with his former girlfriend in a room of the motel.

Seized from the suspects are one cell phone and two identification cards.

The suspect is being held on charges of grave coercion and violating Republic Act 9262 or the Violence Against Women and Children Act in relation to Republic Act 1075, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
