MANILA, Philippines — Two people, including a minor, were stabbed in Quezon City on Thursday by a man who mistook them for the people who beat him up.

Brian Jullie Estanislao, 20, and a 16-year-old boy were playing in front of a house on Mahogany street in Barangay Vasra at around 11 p.m. when they were attacked, police said.

Probers said the suspect, Ronnie Esparas, 40, used a 12-inch knife. Bystanders rushed the victims to the East Avenue Medical Center for medical treatment.

Esparas, who was also taken to the same hospital, told investigators that a group of people beat him up along the same street.

He stabbed the victims after thinking they were the ones who assaulted him.
