Comelec delivers supplies for Cavite special polls

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) started yesterday the delivery of election paraphernalia and other supplies to be used for the special elections in the seventh district of Cavite.

Comelec spokesman Rex Laudiangco told reporters in a Viber message that the deployment of the election paraphernalia to Cavite is from Feb. 14 to 17.

The special elections to be held on Feb. 25 will fill the vacancy left by Jesus Crispin Remulla, who was appointed secretary of the Department of Justice.

Laudiangco said the Philippine National Police would provide security from the Comelec warehouse in Sta. Rosa, Laguna to Cavite.

The Comelec said it has printed 355,184 official ballots as well as 5,538 final testing and sealing ballots.

Up to 426 vote counting machines and backup units have been readied.

Remulla’s son Crispin Diego of the National Party and independent candidates Jose Angelito Aguinaldo, Melencio de Sagun Jr. and Michael Angelo Santos filed their certificates of candidacy for the special elections.
