Boy, 17, hacks to death grandma

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A 17-year-old boy has been placed under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development after he allegedly hacked to death his 78-year-old grandmother in San Carlos, Negros Occidental on Wednesday.

The victim suffered multiple stab wounds and died at the scene.

Initial investigation showed the incident occurred after the victim hit the boy with a bamboo stick.

The suspect surrendered to barangay officials, who turned him over to the police.
