Davao model slay: Remaining suspects’ arrest looms
MANILA, Philippines — The 10th Infantry Division (ID) said it has leads on the location of Cpl. Rolly Cabal, one of the suspects in the killing of Davao model Yvonette Chua-Plaza.
Capt. Mark Anthony Tito, 10th ID spokesman, expressed confidence on the imminent arrest of Cabal, who has gone absent without leave.
The military said a manhunt for another suspect, Cpl. Romart Longkait, who was reportedly ordered to spy on Plaza, is underway.
Meanwhile, the 10th ID is keeping tight watch over S/Sgt. Gilbert Plaza, team leader Cpl. Adrian Cachero and suspected gunman Sgt. Delfin Sialsa, who are under military custody.
Tito said authorities are also providing security to the families of the suspects.
Former Presidential Security Group head and 1001st Infantry Brigade commander Brig. Gen. Jesus Durante was tagged as the mastermind in the crime.
Durante and another suspect, Col. Michael Licyayo, are under the custody of the Philippine Army.
Plaza, 38, was gunned down as she was about to enter her house in Barangay Sto. Niño in Davao City on Dec. 29 last year.
