DOLE resumes labor inspections
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has resumed inspections of commercial establishments nationwide to ensure compliance with labor standards and safety regulations.
Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma recently signed an order reactivating the DOLE’s teams of inspectors.
Laguesma met yesterday with the inspectors to check the implementation of the agency’s program.
Inspectors from the DOLE’s regional offices were given a list of qualifications and standards for qualification to conduct an inspection.
Authority is provided only to DOLE inspectors who have passed the basic training course, have a rank not lower than Labor and Employment Officer III and do not have pending administrative or criminal cases.
Technical safety inspectors are required to be registered professional engineers and holders of a Professional Regulation Commission license.
