MANILA, Philippines — Newly appointed Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian said yesterday he would launch a cleanup campaign, starting at the
DSWD offices, particularly the lounges and toilets used by the public.
Gatchalian said the cleanliness drive would be similar to the one that he enforced as mayor of Valenzuela City where he served three consecutive terms.
“When I was mayor of Valenzuela, I made sure the city hall’s work areas and toilets for the public were always clean,” he said on Twitter.
Gatchalian’s tweets garnered as much as 31,500 views with 247 likes and were retweeted 13 times.
Photos of Gatchalian inspecting the DSWD offices and toilets were posted on social media.
President Marcos designated Gatchalian as DSWD chief on Tuesday, replacing Erwin Tulfo whose appointment was bypassed twice by the Commission on Appointments.
