MANILA, Philippines — A suspect in a robbery at a bakery in Quezon City died in an alleged shootout inside a police precinct in Quezon City yesterday morning.

The slain suspect was identified as Lemery Palmares Jr., 33.

Quezon City Police District director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said Palmares was tagged in the robbery at a bakery along Congressional Extension in Barangay Culiat on Saturday.

The suspect was nabbed in a follow-up operation at around 5 a.m. yesterday.

Palmares allegedly grabbed the gun of case investigator Sgt. Juderick Latao inside the Holy Spirit police station, prompting lawmen to fire at the suspect.

Palmares was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Torre commended police for their prompt response, resulting in the neutralization of the suspect.
