MANILA, Philippines — A suspected con artist who duped millions of pesos from several people while posing as a businesswoman and owner of a fashion styling company was arrested at a posh condominium Taguig City on Friday.
Mikaela Veronica Cabrera, 26, was apprehended by police at her condominium unit at the corner of McKinley Parkway and 26th street in Bonifacio Global City at around 6:38 p.m.
According to Maj. Hazel Asilo, spokesperson for the Southern Police District (SPD), two police officers served Cabrera a warrant of arrest for violating Batas Pambansa 22, the Bouncing Check Law.
The arrest warrant was issued last Oct. 27 by Makati Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 127 Judge Clemente Clemente
A report over dzBB radio said Cabrera would prey on men using a dating app. She would then ask for money from her victims to supposedly save her company from going bankrupt.
The victims would readily give money as Cabrera promised them an interest rate of 20 to 30 percent. However, she never returned the victims’ money.
