Construction worker runs amok; 1 dead, 2 hurt

MANILA, Philippines — A construction worker ran amuck and hacked three women, leaving one dead and two wounded in Barangay Poblacion Uno in Real, Quezon on Wednesday night.

Police said the suspect, Joel Ibañez, fled after the incident.

The fatality was identified as Rosalinda Silvestre. Kristine Sanchez, 39, and Gigi Ibañez, 46, were wounded.

Initial investigation showed the victims were having a drinking session at the residence of a certain Flora Coronacion when the suspect, who was armed with a bolo, arrived and hacked them.

The victims were taken to the Claro M. Recto Memorial District Hospital in Infanta, where Silvestre was pronounced dead on arrival.
