BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — New People’s Army (NPA) rebels killed three persons, including a barangay councilman, whom they accused of being military informants in Negros provinces in the past two weeks.
The NPA’s Mt. Cansermon Command admitted that it was responsible for the killing of Regie de la Cruz in Sitio Maiti, Barangay Buenavista in Himamaylan City on Wednesday.
The spokesman for the rebel group, Dionesio Magbuelas, said De la Cruz was involved in the killing of two NPA guerrillas last year.
Meanwhile, the NPA’s Leonardo Panaligan Command claimed responsibility for the killing of barangay kagawad Ceriloi Balasabas and Raffy Estorco on Jan. 14 and 19 in Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental and Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, respectively.
