Christian Alutaya, 23, died while being treated at the Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital in this city yesterday.

The bus driver, Jay-R Yco, 38, was unhurt and placed under police custody. He told probers he lost control of the wheel while driving down the road.

The bus, which plied the Iloilo-Tapaz (Capiz) route, had around 30 passengers when the accident occurred.

A representative from the bus company signed an affidavit of undertaking that it would shoulder the medical expenses of the victims and provide assistance to the family of the fatality.

“But this will not prevent the victims from filing a case against the bus driver or the company,” Janiuay traffic investigator M/Sgt. Eddie Roncal said.
