MNLF village attacked; 2 dead

MANILA, Philippines — Two persons were killed and five others were wounded when a community of members of the Moro National Liberation Front was attacked in Cotabato City yesterday.

Cotabato police director Col. Querubin Manalang Jr. said some 20 armed men led by a certain Sammy arrived in Barangay Tamontaka II at around 1 a.m. and strafed several houses.

Manalang said the gun attack lasted for about 20 minutes. The gunmen fled on a motorboat toward Datu Odin Sinsuat in Maguindanao.

Police have yet to identify the members of Sammy’s group and the motive for the attack.
