MANILA, Philippines — More than one million voters have registered for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections set in October, according to the Commission on Elections.
Comelec spokesman Rex Laudiangco said the poll body is inching closer to meeting its target of 1.5 million new voters, with 1,024,521 recorded as of yesterday.
Laudiangco said the figures exclude voter registrants under the Comelec’s Register Anywhere Project (RAP), which reached 3,992 as of Jan. 15.
The Comelec set up RAP booths, which are operational on weekends, at eight malls nationwide.
Voter registration in satellite and offsite Comelec offices is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, and will run until Jan. 31.
