MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) monitored off Surigao del Norte will continue to bring rain over parts of the Visayas and Mindanao, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The LPA was monitored 475 kilometers east of Surigao City at around 3 p.m. yesterday. PAGASA said the weather system is not likely to develop into a tropical depression.

Scattered to widespread rain or moderate to intense rain can be expected over Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Zamboanga peninsula, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur due to the LPA and the shear line.

Light to heavy rain may be experienced over the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Northern Mindanao, Bicol and the rest of Caraga and the Visayas due to the LPA.

PAGASA said the LPA and the shear line may bring scattered rains over Mimaropa, Bicol and the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao.

The northeast monsoon or amihan is forecast to bring cloudy skies with rain over Cagayan Valley, Aurora and Quezon.

PAGASA warned the public of flash floods and landslides during heavy rain.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may experience light rain due to the northeast monsoon, but no significant impact is expected.
