MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area spotted east of Surigao del Sur and the shear line will continue to bring rain over parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the low-pressure area was monitored 425 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur as of 3 p.m. yesterday.

PAGASA said there is a low chance that the weather system will develop into a tropical depression, but it may edge closer to the Philippine landmass.

The low-pressure area and shear line or the meeting of hot and cold air will bring cloudy skies and scattered rains over Bicol provinces.

PAGASA said Sorsogon, Masbate, Eastern Visayas, Dinagat islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Agusan del Norte would experience moderate to heavy rain due to the low-pressure area.

PAGASA warned the public of possible flooding and rain-induced landslides during heavy rain.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or amihan is bringing cloudy skies with rain over Cagayan Valley, Aurora and Quezon.
