2 die in Luzon road mishaps
MANILA, Philippines — Two persons died in vehicular accidents that occurred in Quezon province and Bataan over the weekend.
Kristine Advincula, 19, was waiting for a ride when she was run over by a Toyota Fortuner driven by Niño Arvin Saculles in Lucena, Quezon on Sunday.
Advincula died at the scene of the incident that occurred along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Isabang.
Poice arrested Saculles, who reportedly fell asleep while driving.
Charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property will be filed against Saculles, who was arrested after the incident.
Meanwhile, in Bataan, Nowie Serrano, 24, died after a truck hit his motorcycle in Mariveles on Saturday.
Serrano’s companion was taken to the nearby Maheseco Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Report said the victims’ motorcycle tried to overtake the truck, which was about to turn right in Barangay Lucanin. – Ric Sapnu, Michelle Zoleta
