‘Rebel leader,’ captured in Negros
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Three suspected New People’s Army (NPA) guerrillas including an alleged leader were arrested in Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Friday, the military reported yesterday.
Felix Susas Jr., his wife Jalen Susas and Cheryl Catalogo were collared in a joint operation of the police and the military in Barangay Cambayobo.
Susas, who uses the aliases Rigor, Kenneth, Glemore and Dapin, was reportedly the commander of an NPA platoon and secretary of the defunct Northern Negros Front (NNF)-Komiteng Rehiyonal Negros/Cebu/Bohol/Siquijor.
Col. Mike Samson, chief of the Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade, said Jalen was reportedly the acting finance officer as well as medical and educational staff of the NNF.
Crisologo was reportedly part of the NNF’s educational staff.
The military said it seized from the suspects three pistols, four rifle grenades, ammunition, P4,106 cash and backpacks containing personal belongings.
Susas has pending criminal cases for murder, homicide, illegal possession of firearms and violation of the Human Security Act of 2007.
Warrants for Susas’ arrest have been issued by the San Carlos Regional Trial Court and Silay RTC, the military said.
